Startup policy seminar: Content moderation trends and impacts on startups

Policymakers at every level of government are crafting rules to address concerns about problems—real and perceived—with user content on large social media platforms. However, the rules they write will impact Internet platforms of all types and sizes, especially startups. Startups that host any user content—whether it’s comments, messages, reviews, photos and videos, files, etc.—should be aware of the ways policymakers want to change how Internet platforms host, moderate, and recommend (including using algorithms) user content.
